NGOs and funds

The funds provide tailor-made assistance to groups or interests that may otherwise have had difficulty in gaining support under the EEA and Norway Grants, such as non governmental organisations (NGOs) and students.

So far, the donor states have approved 50 funds - e.g. scholarship funds, research funds, NGO funds -  totalling close to €160 million in assistance. The funds are managed by national operators. Several of the funds are explicitly targeting partnerships with actors in Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, making them instrumental to the aim of strengthening bilateral relations between the donor states and the beneficiary states.
